I know what it is to be poor or to have plenty, and I have lived under all kinds of conditions. I know what it means to be full or to be hungry, to have too much or too little. Christ gives me the strength to face anything. Philippians 4:12-13 (CEV)
TCAA is “living” under all kinds of conditions! The roof collapse in the worship center (June 2013) created many challenges. Ministry and administrative staff changes have created more challenges. No matter what the challenge, Christ gives us strength to face “anything.”
Our TCAA faith family affirmed the Leadership Council and Administration Teams plan of action that calls us to prayerfully consider giving special offerings to “Give to Grow.”
TCAA has experienced a gradual, but steady decline since the Great Recession. These teams recommended we allow the legal process regarding the roof collapse to run its course and focus on staffing for growth now. We want to invest in ministry staff to lead us in making disciples that is not totally funded by the financial plan.
We need a renewed commitment to make disciples, serve others, love others and give to see people’s lives transformed by the power of Jesus. We invest our resources in Kingdom ministry and people. Our cue to “Give to Grow” should reflect the passion of Jesus:
- Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:21) He put the treasure of Himself on the cross in the place of our sin, so that our “lostness” could be covered by His blood and in His love. Jesus put His heart where He put His treasure: to rescue those who are far from God. Maricopa County is one of the most unreached in the US!
- Jesus was passionate about discipleship. Matthew 28 tells us, “Go into all the world and make disciples, teaching them everything that I have commanded you.” He poured the treasure of His time, His wisdom, His truth and His teaching into the lives of 12 men. He trained them to carry on the work when He was gone. His passion was making disciples who made disciples. We give to make disciples.
- Jesus was passionate about the poor. Jesus said if we clothe the naked, feed the hungry, visit the prisoners, or give water to the thirsty it is as though we have done that to Jesus! (Matthew 25:34-36) We give to those whose lives are threatened by poverty, abuse and injustice.
The challenge is for us to give “above and beyond” gifts of $42,500 each year for two years (total of $85,000). Your gifts will help lead us to the future God has purposed for us as we provide salary and benefits for a youth/media pastor and small groups/family pastor.
A designated fund has been established for “Give to Grow” gifts. These gifts will provide approximately $85,000 for salary and benefits needed to supplement what is provided in the financial plan for ministry staff. You may give weekly, monthly or a one-time sacrificial gift. Together we can “Give to Grow” in a way that say “yes” to God’s plans for our faith family.
Please note on your envelope or online that your gift is for “Give to Grow.”
Yours for Kingdom giving,
